CapMetro is changing how it responds to bad behavior

AUSTIN (KXAN) – CapMetro is changing its Code of Conduct, giving staff more authority to handle unruly passengers. The agency says the move is meant to create a “safer, more respectful environment.”

Under the new rules, customers who engage in disruptive or disrespectful behavior can now be suspended from using the system. Riders who break the law may also face citations.

CapMetro swears in first transit police officers

Operators now have more authority to enforce the rules consistently. If a passenger violates the Code of Conduct, drivers can briefly pause service and call a supervisor, when safe to do so, to handle the situation.
