Mayor Spencer appoints Casey Millburg as new chief of staff amid city hall restructuring

ST. LOUIS — Mayor Cara Spencer said Friday that Casey Millburg, her policy director, would be her new chief of staff as part of a broader restructuring that includes appointing a cabinet leader.

Millburg replaces Chief of Staff Nancy Hawes, one of Spencer’s early picks for cabinet when she won her seat in April. Spencer said Millburg would prioritize “policy and strategy” in that job. Her promotion will take effect at the end of the day Friday.

“Nancy Hawes, we are really grateful for the work that she’s done here for our city, leading us, really, through an enormous lift of getting our office structured, the tornado and really helping us to re realign our goals with SLDC (St. Louis Development Corp.) and so in that effort, we are excited to continue the work that we’ve done here,” Spencer said Friday…
