Friendsville Elementary principal suspended amid sheriff’s office investigation

FRIENDSVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — An elementary school principal in Blount County has been suspended amid an investigation by the sheriff’s office.

Friendsville Elementary Principal Stan Painter was placed on suspension on Aug. 15 after the Blount County Sheriff’s Office informed district officials that an investigation had been opened. A joint statement from Blount County Schools Director Justin Ridge and Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said the Tennessee Department of Child Services was involved in the investigation.

According to the release, the investigation stems from allegations “brought to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office regarding Mr. Painter’s claimed actions during the 2023-2024 school year at Friendsville Elementary School.”

Ridge said that the school district will fully cooperate with the sheriff’s office investigation. No additional information will be released by the sheriff’s office until the investigation is complete…
