Police make drug arrest after called to hotel room in The Villages

A man was arrested after he was found with drugs in a hotel room in The Villages.

Officers were called at about 2:30 a.m. Friday to the Marriott Towneplace Suites in Spanish Springs to investigate a report of an argument over a missing cell phone, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

The officers entered a hotel room and found 43-year-old Donald Allen Grant on a mattress. He was identified by his Michigan driver’s license. He got up off the mattress, leading to the discovery of the missing cell phone. Officers also spotted a pill bottle which had been under the mattress. The markings on the pills were “indiscernible.” In addition, they found a plastic bag which held 1.2 grams of methamphetamine.

He was taken into custody and booked without bond at the Lake County Jail…
