With California set to face its most significant heat wave of the summer starting later this week, many parts of the state are bracing for elevated fire dangers.
Heat levels are expected to peak between Thursday and Saturday, with temperatures forecast to be 10 to 15 degrees above normal in stretches of mountains, deserts and valleys across the state. According to Chronicle meteorologist Greg Porter, both the Sierra Nevada Basin and Southern California’s coastal range are expected to face the most serious fire risks.
