U.S. Marshals capture Austin homicide suspect in Louisiana after months-long search

AUSTIN, Texas — The U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force captured and arrested a suspect wanted for homicide and assault family violence out of Austin in the Western District of Louisiana on Monday.

Stanwood “Stanley” Jacobs was wanted for a murder that happened on October 1, 2024, when Austin police responded to a call in the 12600 block of Research Blvd, near Oak Knoll. Based on court documents, surveillance video shows Jacobs firing multiple shots at different people, which resulted in the death of one person.

Brandon Fila, Deputy U.S. Marshal for Austin, told CBS Austin in April that Jacobs’ criminal history dates back to 2018 when he was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm. He was sentenced in 2019 to 27 months in prison with three years of supervised release.
