County appeals FEMA’s decision after only 12% of $4.8M COVID care costs reimbursed

The county footed the bill for critical detention-related COVID care, thinking they would be reimbursed by FEMA. But after spending millions and requesting repayment, FEMA is denying most of it, approving only about 12 percent of the costs.

Now, the county is appealing.
