Sound Transit safety report reveals mixed results for light rail security

Sound Transit’s latest “Safety and Security” report reveals a mixed impact on light rail safety following the opening of 12 new stations last year.

The report indicates a decrease in assaults against passengers, dropping from around 140 incidents in both 2022 and 2023 to approximately 125 last year. However, the report also highlights a concerning rise in assaults on transit workers, increasing from around 145 in 2023 to more than 180 last year.
