6 rescued after boat gets stranded in cruise ship’s path in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Marine Enforcement Section jumped into action when a pontoon boat carrying six people got stranded in the path of an outbound cruise ship in Tampa.

The sheriff’s office said a line had wrapped around the boat’s propeller, preventing it from moving.

“Our deputies conducted an emergency tow and stayed until their boat was operable,” they said.

About four minutes later, the Margaritaville at Sea’s Islander was seen passing by.

“Thank God you’re here,” one of the passengers told deputies. “Holy (expletive). Thank you, gentlemen.”…
