With as fast as summer has flown by, and we are preparing for fall, it’s time to start preparing for cooler weather. This year in Amarillo it looks like you are definitely going to need your hoodies and umbrellas.

What to Expect for Amarillo’s September Weather

September brings us gorgeous weather for Labor Day weekend as we start wrapping up the summer. However, as the week progresses, expect to see winds and rain move into the Texas Panhandle. The week of September 8th is forecasted to bring severe thunderstorms with a tornado risk.

Tri-State Fair week may be a little wet with intermittent showers and periods of fair weather. The rest of September is expected to bring lots of rain and thunderstorms. Look for unseasonably cold weather at the end of September

We enter October with lots of wind and possible rain. But but the third week, look for cool days and cold nights with historical lows. Temperatures will drop in the final week, and it’s possible we could see more rain with temperatures in the 40-degree range…
