Former Guilford County Schools substitute teacher charged with statutory rape, indecent liberties with student

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A former Guilford County Schools teacher was charged Tuesday with several sex crimes, one count of statutory rape and three counts of indecent liberties with a student.

According to the Greensboro Police Department, 28-year-old Shaela L. Thompson is being held without bond at the Guilford County Jail. She has been charged with the following:

  • Statutory rape of a child under 15
  • Statutory sex offense of a child under 15
  • Three counts of indecent liberties with a student

Police say Thompson knew the victim from “her previous employment as a substitute teacher at Guilford County Schools.” Police also said the offense didn’t occur on school property and that this appeared to be an isolated incident…
