KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — An East Tennessee man thought he was buying a vintage Corvette, but he ended up being scammed and losing over $26,000.
Jim Maidens trusted the guy he was talking with, and now he regrets not being aware of the red flags. Maidens found what he believed to be a great deal on a 1963 Corvette on Facebook Marketplace, a popular platform for buying and selling cars. It is also, unfortunately, a hotbed for scams.
