A former Blount County Schools teacher appeared in Judge Tammy M. Harrington’s court Friday afternoon for an update on the prosecution’s request to reconsider a recusal.
Former Heritage High School track coach and science teacher Shane Howard Rewis, 52, was arrested on Nov. 12, 2024, and charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child, exploitation of a minor by electronic means, sexual exploitation of a minor, aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, and trafficking for commercial sex act.
Rewis last appeared in court on July 29. His defense attorney, Rick Owens, argued for the District Attorney’s office to be recused due to one of their investigators allegedly discovering photos of a minor relative on Rewis’ cellphone during his investigation of the case…
