Rutherford County, TN – If you’ve filled up your tank lately, you might’ve noticed a pleasant surprise: several gas stations around Rutherford County are offering regular unleaded in the mid-$2.50 range — well below both the state and national averages.
The Tennessee average currently sits at $2.74 per gallon, according to AAA, which is three cents cheaper than last week and nearly 30 cents less than this time last year. Stephanie Milani, spokesperson for AAA – The Auto Club Group, says prices have been holding steady in the $2.70s for over six weeks. “As we get closer to autumn, we typically see gas prices hold steady before falling gradually as the year comes to a close,” she explained.
Nationally, drivers are paying an average of $3.13 per gallon — unchanged from last week. With hurricane season ramping up, experts say it’s worth keeping an eye on any storms that could disrupt fuel production or distribution.
