Promenade Park will pulse Saturday with the sounds of legendary R&B group Dru Hill and Toledo’s own Shawn Kane, but the heart of the Strictly R&B Park Jam beats for more than just music.
The event’s organizers — Lance Self, Ryan Noble, Tracy Haynes, and Marcus Coleman — are on a mission to use the power of music to heal, connect, and raise awareness about mental health and veterans’ issues in the community.
“Because music is healing,” Mr. Self said. “Music can make you feel better, it can heal the mind, and it can make a bad day good. So bringing the community together, having this outside where the community can come and just jam out, it’s healing and it can help us all.”…
