Dozens of warning sirens broken across the islands

HONOLULU (Island News) — Residents in Palolo said their warning siren has been broken for the past few years and they’re worried about public safety.

“It’s not only disasters. What about an attack? What about an attack? You know, civil defense,” said Randolph Hack, a member of the Palolo Neighborhood Board.

Hack has been fighting for the state to fix the siren in the valley, one of dozens that are broken on Oahu.

He could barely hear the sirens from other neighborhoods during last month’s tsunami warning…
