It’s not one of the grander old mansions and castles that can be found throughout the city – it’s just a meager little house that probably was lived in by people who could not afford much. It’s been nicknamed the East Forest Workers Home.
According to Sanborn Origins Fire Insurance via This Building Matters, this piece of land was empty in 1897. Although it looks suspiciously like the type of houses that were built in the 1880s, it’s been speculated that the house was later moved onto this property sometime around or after 1900.
