Williams, one of East Tennessee’s most beloved news anchors, died Aug. 18 at his home, WBIR reported. He was 91.
For more than two decades, Williams anchored WBIR’s evening newscasts, appearing in more than 10,000 broadcasts from 1977 to 2000. He mentored many along the way, but his impact reached far beyond the news studio. The community trusted him. He helped more than 1,000 children find families.
