Family identifies victim of fatal shooting during attempted carjacking in South L.A.

Family members have identified the man who was shot and killed during an attempted carjacking in South Los Angeles over the weekend.

Reports of a gunshot wound victim came into the Los Angeles Police Department dispatch around 9:20 p.m. Saturday in an alley near the 8000 block of South Hooper Avenue, according to a department spokesperson.

The preliminary investigation into the incident revealed that the two victims were alerted to a car alarm coming from the alley, and when they arrived, they found three suspects trying to steal their vehicle.
