TRACY, Calif. — The Tracy Police Department has unveiled its newest crime-fighting tool: a “Real Time Information Center” designed to give officers faster access to critical data.
Law enforcement leaders from across the region gathered Tuesday for a demonstration of the new hub, which connects more than 113 cameras, including license plate readers and 360-degree cameras. Tracy Police Captain Luis Mejia said the technology marks a significant shift from the days when officers relied only on pen and paper in patrol cars.
“We are far beyond that now,” Mejia said. “Now we’re gonna be able to actually look at real time information. We’re gonna be pro-active versus reactive.”…
