Unlicensed driver stopped in unregistered vehicle near 7-Eleven

A Belleview man was arrested after a deputy stopped him in an unregistered vehicle with a suspended license near 7-Eleven.

A deputy observed a silver Volkswagen passenger car near County Road 466 and U.S. 301 in Oxford around 8:20 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A check of the tag revealed it was assigned to a blue 2003 Nissan utility vehicle, and the registered owner, 44-year-old Neil Hartsel, had a suspended license.

The deputy subsequently stopped the vehicle on Milton Lane behind 7-Eleven, located at 11670 U.S. 301, and asked Hartsel to step out to be handcuffed. Further investigation revealed the Volkswagen was unregistered. Hartsel had active suspensions and prior guilty convictions for driving while license suspended, as well, the report said…
