Fabens motorsport landmark set to boost jobs, tourism

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso County officials and development partners unveiled a groundbreaking landmark motorsport destination in North Fabens on Wednesday morning, Aug. 20.

The announcement, made at a press conference, stated that the Pan American Speedway will be a first-of-its-kind development in the region, combining entertainment, tourism, and community investment.

It features two professionally designed tracks: a 1.7-mile, 40-foot-wide competition track for cars, motorcycles, and go-karts, and a 0.73-mile, 30-foot-wide rental track designed for families, corporate events, and community engagement, according to the County.

“The Pan American Raceway is a new project, a new venture that is basically going to have racing facilities for the community. So, it will have racing tracks, an outdoor space, space for community activities, and concerts,” Precinct 3 Commissioner Iliana Holguin said.

Holguin said this $17 million investment is aiming to get visitors from all over the southwest and Mexico to this recreational center.

The project is expected to generate 29 full-time jobs, all paying at or above the County’s minimum wage, while also supporting surrounding businesses and boosting rural development in East El Paso County…
