JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A Mississippi pizza restaurant was recognized by the Food Network.
Sal & Mookie’s was named the best slice in Mississippi in the Food Network’s “50 Best Pizza Slices by State” feature. The restaurant opened in 2007 in the City of Jackson.

The team put a painstaking amount of research into their pizza recipe, coming up with a key list of ingredients (King Arthur flour, whole milk mozzarella and imported Italian tomatoes) and just the right ratio of dough to sauce to cheese. Every pie is cooked in a brick-lined, gas-fired oven to ensure a crust that’s both chewy and crisp.
