APD to host gun buyback event with New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence is hosting their 23rd gun buyback event in the state, this one with the Albuquerque Police Department.

“We’ve dismantled close to 4,000 firearms, with 40% of them being semi-automatics. This is our fourth one with the Albuquerque Police Department, and we’re at close to 800 firearms that we’ve dismantled with APD,” said Miranda Viscoli, of NMPGV.

APD is partnering with NMPGV on the event. You can get $100 for a long gun, pistol or revolver. You can get $200 for a semi-automatic rifle or handgun or a $250 for an AR-15-type gun. You put the gun in a safe spot, officers will take the gun out of the car and they’ll run it through a database to see if it’s stolen…
