Final defendant in murder of Albuquerque Academy student sentenced

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The final person responsible for the killing of an Albuquerque Academy teen at a house party learned his punishment on Tuesday.

It was a deadly shooting that shocked the community and killed 18-year-old Jada Gonzales. In 2022, a group of teens shot at a house party, killing Gonzales. Now, 21-year-old Jesse Parra admitted to being the driver in the shooting, maneuvering the car so two people could open fire at the home or leave the scene. He pleaded guilty to Shooting at a Dwelling or Occupied Building (Resulting in Death), Conspiracy to Commit Shooting at a Dwelling or Occupied Building (Resulting in Death), and two counts of Tampering with Evidence.

The judge read a letter from Jada’s best friend to Parra. “I feel some comfort in knowing that she’s with our creator now, watching over me, and she’ll be able to see me accomplish those things from above, but I would much rather have her here. to see me receive my diploma, stand at the alter, to hold my future child,” read Judge Courtney Weaks…
