WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — Wyoming Public Schools rolled out new technology Tuesday as students returned to class, giving parents real-time updates on school buses.
Using grant funds, the district equipped its 25 buses with Transfinder, a routing software that improves scheduling and safety, said Joe Steffes, director of safety, security and transportation. More than 80% of students use one of the district’s 17 bus routes.

Students now scan a badge when boarding, allowing parents to track buses through the Stopfinder app. Each bus is also equipped with GPS, sending alerts if a vehicle runs late.
“Our buses have GPS on them,” Steffes said. “If it’s running late, maybe due to traffic, we’re able to send a push notification out to those parents and let them know, ‘Hey, Bus 10 is running five minutes late.’”…
