Estranged wife of suspended Osceola County sheriff allowed to remove GPS monitor in racketeering conspiracy case

TAVARES, Fla. — Robin Severance-Lopez appeared in Lake County court Wednesday in an effort to convince a judge that tracking her with a GPS monitor was unnecessary as she faces a racketeering conspiracy charge in connection to a larger case against her husband, now-suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez.

Marcos Lopez is facing federal charges of racketeering and conspiracy to commit racketeering as part of an alleged multi-year $21 million illegal gambling operation.

Severance-Lopez is accused of facilitating the movement of illicit funds, and of being a pass-through for funds from co-defendants in the case to Lopez. The charge filed against her is conspiracy to use or invest proceeds from racketeering, which is a second-degree felony…
