Single-Seater Speed Roars Back to Stockton After 20 Years!

After two decades, high-octane open-wheel racing makes its long-awaited return to the legendary Stockton 99 Speedway with the Johnny Brazil Memorial on Saturday, August 23.

The spotlight event features the Speed Tour Supermodified Series, bringing back the thunder of single-seater rockets to Stockton’s quarter-mile oval for the first time in over 20 years. Fans can expect a night packed with speed, sound, and adrenaline as multiple racing divisions light up the track.

  • Supermodified Showdown: The Speed Tour is back in its third season with a field of 16 drivers from across the West Coast and beyond battling in Stockton’s penultimate race of 2025.
  • Big Money at Stake: $500 bonuses await the Fastest Qualifier and Hard Charger, plus a $250 bounty for anyone who can break Johnny Brazil’s iconic 1985 track record of 11.899 seconds.
  • NCMA Sprint Cars: The Quick Change Liquid Energy Sprint Car drivers enter the final stretch of their season with only three races left before crowning a 2025 champion. Headliner Tony Hunt of Rocklin—a Hollywood stunt driver and 10-time USAC champion—faces off against Antioch’s Dan Goonderman and Fair Oaks native Shauna Hogg.
  • Legends of Kearny Bowl: Fans of vintage racing will love this exhibition class, showcasing the roots of hardtop racing and classic car technology.
  • Grand American Modifieds: Defending champ Scott Winters of Tracy leads Sacramento’s Calvin Hegje by just 10 points in a season-long battle for supremacy.
