A Leesburg man was arrested after allegedly battering a fellow food truck worker for texting his wife behind his back.
An officer responded to the Wildwood Antique Mall of Eustis, located at 349 Plaza Dr., regarding a battery at 6:25 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Eustis Police Department. The complainant had allowed 35-year-old Raul Thomas Perez to use his phone, but he asked for it back, Perez hit him. According to the complainant, Perez worked at a food truck parked at the antique mall.
Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant. He explained his female friend allowed Perez to get a free phone. However, he was to pay monthly installments for cell service. He was supposedly unable to pay for the services this month, which led to the complainant asking for it back, the report said.
Perez gave the phone to one of the complainant’s friends in Leesburg that morning. At around 6:10 p.m., Perez came to the antique mall to meet with the complainant who was unloading items from the food truck.
