Eastern Iowa man pleads not guilty to shooting 10-year-old

LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – A man accused of shooting a 10-year-old in Linn County last month has pleaded not guilty.

On July 7, crews responded to Ivanhoe Drive in Mount Vernon, where they found a boy who had been shot several times in the back and back of the head. A criminal complaint revealed the boy was shot with a rifle. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the gunfire.

Law enforcement met with 62-year-old Kevin Gouchee, who confessed to shooting the rifle. He said he thought the boy was a groundhog…
