Hundreds in KC pack meeting to discuss potential Missouri redistricting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – It was a packed house inside the IBEW Local 124 hall on Wednesday night. Hundreds came together for an emergency meeting to organize against reports that Missouri lawmakers are looking to redraw the state’s congressional map before the 2026 midterms.

The meeting falls on the same day the Republican-controlled Texas House approved redrawn congressional maps at the request of President Trump. The move initially saw State Democrats flee the state for two weeks in protest. The maps still need to be approved by the Republican-controlled state Senate and signed into law by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott before they become official.

“I was shocked to be honest,” said Beverly Harvey, the founder of Indivisible Kansas City. “I didn’t think all of that would go outside of Texas. It’s truly unfortunate that people are just bowing down to Trump and just doing anything he asks. For Governor Kehoe to just bow down and say yes, we’re going to do it, that’s very disheartening.”…
