What began as a unanimous decision in Commissioners Court last December has now hit the streets of Fort Bend County. On August 8, 2025, local leaders, animal advocates, and residents gathered to celebrate the official launch of the county’s first-ever Mobile Pet Adoption Unit — a 26-foot, fully equipped vehicle designed to bring shelter pets out of kennels and into the community.
Judge KP George, joined by county commissioners and partners, called the launch a “new chapter in compassionate, mobile pet care,” marking a milestone for Fort Bend County Animal Services (FBCAS). The new adoption vehicle allows residents to meet and adopt animals directly at community events, parks, and neighborhoods, without needing to visit the shelter.
