Dane County supervisors push to remove dogs from Blue Mounds breeder during investigations

BLUE MOUNDS, Wis. (WMTV) – After years of animal welfare advocates raising concerns about conditions at a Dane County dog breeding facility, county supervisors are now stepping in.

Resolution 119, introduced this month, urges the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection to revoke Ridglan Farms’ license and place its animals into protective custody while state investigations continue.

The facility, located in Blue Mounds, breeds beagles and other dogs for medical research. It has long drawn criticism from advocacy groups, and earlier this year, a Dane County judge appointed a special prosecutor to examine allegations of animal cruelty.
