A New Orleans man was sentenced this week to 66 months in prison for drug trafficking and carrying an AR-15 pistol into a hospital, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Eric Falkins, 19, previously pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute marijuana and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Following his prison term, he will serve five years of supervised release and has been ordered to pay a $300 mandatory special assessment fee.
In January 2024, Falkins entered Touro Infirmary hospital carrying a backpack that emitted a strong odor of marijuana. Inside, authorities found distributable quantities of the drug along with a loaded semi-automatic pistol. Court documents reveal that Falkins has been involved in drug trafficking since at least 2023 and conspired with others to distribute marijuana.
