MAGNOLIA, Texas (KIAH) — A suspect in an arson investigation in Montgomery County was arrested in central Texas after a state manhunt.
Justin Lee Stewart, 37, was arrested in Junction by Texas DPS troopers and Kimble County Sheriff’s deputies. He was arrested 330 miles from Magnolia, where he was accused of starting a house fire on Monday morning.
Investigators said that the fire at a home on the 200 block of Sundew Court in Magnolia was intentionally set. The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office said the house suffered heavy fire, smoke and heat damage.
Investigators also said that Stewart did flee the scene after the fire, but they initially thought he was headed to Victoria to allegedly cause harm to other people there. But around 10 p.m. Monday, Stewart’s vehicle was spotted at a roadside rest stop west of Junction…
