One-eared pig at Bernalillo Co. Animal Shelter awaits his forever home

BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) — Bernalillo Animal Shelter has taken in an interesting resident – Van Gogh the one-eared pig. This larger-than-life pig was picked up from a South Valley home when a resident was finally fed up with him breaking into her yard to eat all her apples.

The animal shelter says they believe Van Gogh to be no older than a couple years based on characteristics. Surprisingly, this is not the first pig to be picked up by animals services this year, but Van Gogh has been the largest. The shelter says he has been treating his stay like a vacation.

“Very friendly pig, loves belly scratches, and is very friendly,” said Bernalillo County Animal Care Services Officer Andie Bardouche. “It’s enjoying its spay day, loves mud baths, loves playing with the little ball toy that we give it, and sleeps most of the day.” Van Gogh is available to be adopted and is currently looking for his new forever home. He will be happy anywhere there is mud and maybe a couple apples…
