SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The Salt Lake Plaza Hotel in downtown Salt Lake City will be closed and later demolished, with its space being used as a temple parking lot.
Property Reserve, a subsidiary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints announced that it will be closing the Salt Lake Plaza Hotel on November 1, 2025. After its closure, the property will be fully transferred to the Church and demolition will begin.
According to official statements, the hotel’s demolition is planned, “due to rising costs to maintain, operate, and update its aging structure.”
