Auburn Police officers honored with lifesaving medals after reviving 84-year-old man

Two Auburn police officers have been awarded the department’s Medal of Life-Saving after their quick actions helped revive an 84-year-old man who collapsed at a home earlier this month.

On Aug. 4, Officers Nelson and Bernabe were dispatched to the 11000 block of SE 290th Place for a report of CPR in progress. The man was unconscious, not breathing, and had no pulse when officers arrived.

According to the department, Officer Nelson ran down a long driveway carrying an AED while Officer Bernabe began chest compressions. The two worked together to apply the AED pads, which determined no shock was needed, and compressions continued…
