Troy neighbors describe shaking house during tragic firework explosion

NewsChannel 13 is learning new details of the moments when a firework exploded in Troy, injuring two children.

It happened on Sunday around 6:15 p.m. at a home on O’Neill Street, police said. Vito and Nancy Mamone live on nearby Dunham Street. They said their house shook because of the explosion.

Investigators said an adult was renovating the home on O’Neill Street, and two children ages 5 and 9 were playing outside. There was a roll-off dumpster in the driveway, where the homeowner was storing disposed items from the residence. Police said one of those items was an improperly disposed firework, which went off and injured the two children…
