Coldplay’s Jumbotron: From Kiss Cam Fun to CEO Scandal

Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin has playfully addressed the band’s use of a jumbotron after a seemingly innocent Kiss Cam moment unexpectedly exposed a cheating scandal.

During a recent concert in England, the jumbotron captured Astronomer CEO Andy Byron with his arm around Kristin Cabot, the company’s head of HR. Their awkward reaction, Cabot covering her face and Byron ducking out of the shot, prompted Martin to quip, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” The incident quickly went viral.

Following an internal investigation, both Byron and Cabot resigned from Astronomer. The company reaffirmed its commitment to its values and the accountability of its leaders in a statement.

Martin later acknowledged the incident during another show, jokingly advising concertgoers to check their makeup before appearing on the big screen. Despite the unexpected turn of events, Martin confirmed that the band would continue its jumbotron tradition, stating, “Life throws you lemons, and you’ve got to make lemonade. So, we are going to keep doing it because we are going to meet some of you.”
