Sew you need a fix? Free repair resource mends items, stitches community together

BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — A repair shop of a different sort came to the rescue on Tuesday, August 19.

At Pack Memorial Library, people dropped off things like clothing, backpacks and even stuffed animals that needed mending or small repairs.

Volunteers were set up with their sewing machines to do those jobs for free.

“People can get their stuff fixed and it’s also about meeting neighbors and just having a good conversation too. And of course, our volunteers love to teach. So, if you want to learn a little about sewing, come out and we’ll show you how to do it,” WNC Repair Cafe organizer Dan Hettinger said…
