MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) — It’s been one year since Manatee County Schools rolled out a high-tech weapons detection system at several high schools.
Now, that same system is in place at every middle school across the district.
The Evolv weapons detection technology is designed to move students through security checkpoints faster—up to 10 times faster than traditional metal detectors, according to the district.
It’s also meant to be less intrusive. Students walk through the system as they arrive each day. No need to stop, remove items, or open bags…
