Robinette’s corn maze honors 175 years of Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Starting in September, you can once again get lost at Robinette’s Apple Haus & Winery’s corn maze. This year, the design honors the city of Grand Rapids.

A large La Grande Vitesse, the sculpture that sits in Calder Plaza in downtown Grand Rapids, has been carved into a field of corn, surrounded by the waves of the Grand River, and the words “Grand Rapids” along with the city skyline.

This year marks 175 years of the city, which was founded by Louis Campau in 1826, featuring a trading post, blacksmith shop and a cabin on the banks of the Grand River. It officially became a city in 1850. Sixty-one years later, in 1911, Robinette’s was founded…
