1905 building transformed into new bank opens in downtown Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, MI — A 120-year-old building has reopened for business in downtown Kalamazoo after an investment of more than $1 million that transformed it into a modern bank.

Horizon Bank opened a new professional office on Monday, Aug. 11, in the Monroe Building at 151 E. Michigan Ave.

Built in 1905, the Monroe Building was originally home to the Kalamazoo City Savings Bank. It features a neoclassical exterior with 13,000 square feet of private offices, conference rooms, collaborative space and a kitchen spread throughout two floors and a full basement…
