MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — Midway through Rutherford County Schools’ second week of class, nine of 340 bus routes in the school system are still not filled.
The empty routes are causing headaches for some families getting their children to and from school.

“What’s happened that’s a little unusual this year is that [the empty bus routes are] concentrated in one or two areas. Rockvale has been one of the biggest areas affected. Especially that first week, we had three routes one contractor could not cover,” RCS spokesperson James Evans told News 2.
School district officials said bus contractors have 30 days to either get all the routes covered or the district can take the contract away and offer the route to another contractor. The 30-day period ends on Aug. 29…
