ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – The Southwest Virginia Bee Festival is this week on Saturday, August 23. Joining WFXR News to talk about the festival is Kandyce Volk.
Volk discussed the importance of pollinators in the region, especially because it sometimes goes unnoticed. She said, “From flowers to trees to shrubs, and when we think of pollinators, we think of flowers and meadows, and those are definitely important for diversification of foraging. But the bees like trees and shrubs as well.”
Did you know the honeybee is just one of the almost 500 species of bees in Virginia, and this doesn’t include butterflies, moths, flies, or beetles…
