Man slashed by box cutter in nighttime attack outside Tampa laundromat: police

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man in his mid-20s was taken to the hospital Tuesday night after Tampa police said he was attacked by a person with a box cutter outside a local laundromat.

It was around 10 p.m. when the suspect, Darick Singleton, 60, walked up to the man in the parking lot of a laundromat off North 40th Street, a spokesperson for the Tampa Police Department said.

Investigators said the men knew each other prior to the incident. Singleton claimed the man owed him money from earlier in the day, but when the man refused to give him any money, police said Singleton began chasing him with a box cutter.
