Baton Rouge: 1 dead, 2 hospitalized after police chase ends in fiery crash

BATON ROUGE — One person is dead and two others hospitalized after a vehicle crashed during a police pursuit late Tuesday night.

Around 10:30 p.m. on August 20, a Baton Rouge Police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations near Lobdell Boulevard and Harry Drive. Instead, the driver led officers on a roughly three-mile chase before crashing near Greenwell Springs Road and North Foster Drive. The vehicle caught fire after the impact, trapping at least one person inside.

Sources tell UWK that someone from the vehicle tossed a gun out that hit a police car and damaged the police car. The gun is believed to be a Glock handgun with an illegally modified machine gun conversation, or a switch. That’s when the driver is said to have continued speeding on Greenwell Springs Rd. where they hit a utility box, wooden fence and the back of a business. The vehicle was heavily damaged and that’s when the engine caught on fire.

Multiple officers responded to the scene and pulled all three people from the burning vehicle. The driver, an adult female, was pronounced dead at the scene from her injuries while two others were taken to a hospital. They are listed in serious condition at this time…
