FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A coalition of local faith leaders is calling on Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders to stop the implementation of Arkansas’ new law authorizing nitrogen gas executions.
On Thursday, Aug. 21, the group plans to hand-deliver a letter to the governor’s office voicing their opposition to Act 302, which allows the state to carry out executions using the gas method. Arkansas has not executed an inmate in eight years, but the new law could soon change that.
