North Texas mom narrowly avoids car that crashed into her home; neighbor charged with DWI

MESQUITE, Texas — A Mesquite woman said she narrowly avoided death when a car plunged through her front wall and into her living room late Tuesday night — marking the second time in under two weeks that a drunk driver has struck a home in the city.

Mesquite police reported the crash occurred around 11:29 p.m. on Aug. 19 in the 700 block of W. College Street. The driver, identified as Maura Chapman-Rivera, of Mesquite, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Thankfully, no one was in the living room when the crash happened, and no injuries were reported.
